One Village Two Nation.(India and Myanmar)

.....Got shocked? by reading the title but you read it correct. Today I am going to take you to the LUNGWA village of Mon district which is situated at 380 km north-east far from Nagaland capital Kohima.

                     ● m@p view........

This unique place is situated at our eastern international border. The Indo-Myanmar cuts through this village and the interesting and amazing fact is that this border has given the two nationalities instead of dividing them. These village has the citizenship of both the country India and Myanmar. Sometime around the year 1970-71 , countries stretched the border here, that's when India and Myanmar got separated . One part of Longwa is in India and another part is in Burma but Longwa remains undivided.

                ● one house two nation.....

In terms of population Longwa is the most populated village of Mon district and according to 2011 census Longwa has 732 families that consists of 5,132 people, overall . The people of this village belongs to Konyak Naga tribe, which is one of the biggest tribe amongst the sixteenth most recognized tribe of Nagaland. This tribe was famous for its head-hunting regime. They were known for beheading their enemies and bringing the heads back, post the war was a reward.

The chief of these tribes is addressed by the title "Angh" and he is also considered as the king of Konyak Naga tribe. The amazing fact is, the border separating India and Myanmar passes through the king's house. Yes that's right. Right in the middle of this house, this means that one part of his house is in India and the other in Myanmar above picture depicting this.

This family sleeps in India and eats in Myanmar isn't this is amazing ?

The king of tribe and has a lot of dignity dignity and pride. His reign spread across 75 villages out of which a few villages is in Myanmar and Arunanchal Pradesh. "Angh" is the link that connects his people with the government, his initiative have resulted in the development and betterment of the tribe and Lungwa village.

                ● BRO Lungwa.....

Earlier this village has no electricity,no hospital, no proper drinking water but now the things changed government has opened schools and provided electricity and also there is well developed army cantonmet 33 AR (Assam Rifles).
One strange rule of the village is that a child barely of age 7 to 8 years have to take care of their younger siblings. They carry the toddler on their back all day , as women goes to work.

           ● children carrying their siblings.......

Men few go to work/hunts and most of them stay home smoking opium. People can travel to both countries for jobs. The people here understand hindi to a certain extent. However, the Tibetan Burmese dialect prevails here.

This village is a living example that :-
《 Boundaries and nationality were created by human beings, but our hearts want is to live together in peace. 》

Let's have some view to few things of Lungwa.....
