Let's start with this.....!!!
Jodhpur, all over the world mainly known as "blue city". Brahmin people once used to highlight their home by blue colour but from then now this tradition continues. Jodhpur was the capital of Marwar Region, which was spread over the thar desert. Marwar was ruled by the Rathore dynasty Suryavanshi Rajput , and due to that reason they named their fort as "Mehran" from sanskrit word mihir which means Sun.
But behind the Marwar and the architect of it's Sun Fort there is a long story which is really amazing. Originally Rathore were not the natives of Marwar, they came from the Central Bharat.
Rao Sihaaji was the founder of this dynasty, they came with their whole peeps to Marwar around 800 years ago from now, they reached Marwar as refugees, as they left their home "kannauj" after the attack of Afghan assailant Mohammed Gori.
Then with time they became the emperor of Marwar, and in year 1459 king Rao Jodha started the making of Mehrangarh Fort, With the trusted aid of Rao Nara (son of Rao Samra), the Mewar forces were subdued at Mandore. With that, Rao Jodha gave Rao Nara the title of Diwan. With the help of Rao Nara, the foundation of the fort was decided on 12 May 1459 by Jodha on a rocky hill 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) to the south of Mandore. This hill was known as Bhakurcheeria, the mountain of birds . Because that was the best place from the war point of view. According to legend to build the fort he had to displace the hill's sole human occupant, a hermit called Cheeria Nathji, the lord of birds. Cheeria Nathji was a man with the local population as his followers and hence influential in the region.
But in order to build the fort they have to break lac tonnes of stones, and the people of" khandwaaliya " society have special talent in breaking the stones in a precise manner and local people also used to say stone as "khand" and they have very good knowledge about that "khand" (stone), with the help of sound , they easily came to know that in which place there is fault, so that they can break easily that particular stone and they learn that technique from their ancestors.
Slowly slowly, the talent of khandwaaliya's gave a new shape to that mountain and with them one more society (samaj) was there named "chavalia" they were capable of carrying large stones from one place to another and from the hardwork of "chavalia" people Mehrangarh Fort was constructed. And the amazing thing was that, they didn't make the map of Fort , might structural engineering of Mehrangarh Fort was based on theirs own knowledge. This fort is the matchless sample of architecture which has a height of 99 m, length of 500 m and width of 400 m spreads over the mountains. This fort have the huge walls of 23 m,which gave them protection from their enemy.
Over the five centuries, twenty five Rathore king ruled Mehrangarh Fort and its level and beauty increases over the periods. Not only from outer side but also this fort is awesome from inside as well.
Mehrangarh Fort is the excellent example of Rajputana flaunt.
